about

Urombo calls for a return to an interconnected way of living in hard times. A traditional song, this arrangement was first performed by a collective known as "The Collaboration" which included Busi Ncube and the late Chiwoniso Maraire at the height of the economic crisis in Zimbabwe, a time that was especially challenging for artists. The Mbira Renaissance Band has (tongue-in-cheek) re-interpreted this song on the back of the 2016-2018 economic downturn in Alberta.
